YWAM Denver Staff Bios
 

Nathan and Jessica Alley: Nathan comes to us from Michigan and Jessica is from Pennsylvania.  Nathan and Jessica both did their DTS in the summer of 2004 and their Phase II in the spring of 2005.  They were married in the summer of 2005 and joined staff in the fall of ’05.

Kristen Andrews: Kristen comes from Washington State. She did a Reef to Outback DTS in January 2005. She did a SOW with us in the summer of 2006. She did a Phase 2 in the fall of 2006. She joined staff in the winter of 2007.

Michael Brewer: Michael is from Pennsylvania . He did a DTS up at our Eagle Rock base in the fall of 2004. He later did a Phase II here in the spring of 2005. He joined our staff in the spring of 2006.

Michelle Carpenter: Michelle comes from Washington State. She did her DTS in the summer of 2003 in Kona. She did her Phase2 in the spring of 2006 and joined staff the follow year in the spring of 2007.

John & Michelle Connor: John & Michelle Connor met at YWAM Denver during completion of three schools at YWAM Denver, in 1996 & 1997. John joined staff in 1997, Michelle joined staff in 1998, and they were married in the summer of 1998. They have three daughters, Jocelyn, Jubilee, and Jessa. They have been elders here since 2001.  John helped develop the Boarders DTS, and developed Denver's School of Worship. He has led ten schools, seven outreaches and continues to lead the School of Worship here at YWAM Denver. John & Michelle have a passion and desire to see God move in the hearts of people through the instrument of music. John leads worship & teaches internationally. He is also the worship pastor at Faith Bible Chapel's "Fuel" Venue.

Fred Darko: Fred is from Ghana in West Africa. He did his DTS with Mercy Ships in the spring of 1999. He then joined staff on the Anastasis through 2006. He came to Denver for his Phase 2 in the fall of 2006. He did a WISE in the winter of 2007 and joined staff in the spring of 2007.



Mark and Maritza Davies: Mark comes to us from New Hampshire. He did a DTS in the winter of 2002 and joined staff directly after his Phase 2 in the fall of 2002. Maritza is from Colombia, South America. She completed her DTS in Minneapolis in the fall of 2000 as well as an SOE in the spring of 2001. She came to Denver for an SOW in the summer of 2004 followed by a Phase 2 in the fall of 2004. She joined staff in January of 2005. They met here at YWAM Denver and got married January 21, 2007
 

Ted & Jami Davis: Ted met Jami during Jami's Phase 2 in the spring of 2006. The two were married during the summer of 2007. Ted is from Alaska and came to do his DTS in the spring of 2004. He returned in the winter of 2005 for a WISE school and did a Phase II in the fall of 2005. He joined our staff in the spring of 2006. Jami is from Wyoming . She did her DTS in the summer of 2005. She did Phase II in the spring of 2006 and joined staff directly afterwards. Jami is passionate about injustices among women in different countries, and enjoys the outdoors, especially innertubing down rivers.

 
Chimene Djeumo: Chimene comes to us all the way from Cameroon.  She did her DTS in the winter of 2002 followed by Phase II in the spring of 2002.  She joined staff shortly after.

Chey Foran: Chey is from Austin , Texas . She did her DTS in the Summer of 2005 and her Phase II in the spring of 2006. She joined staff in the fall of 2006.

Izzy Forsyth: Izzy is from Wiltshire, England.  She did her DTS in Liverpool, UK in the fall of 1992.  She completed an Arts In Ministry in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada in the spring of 1994.  She worked on the Anastasis from September in 1994-1998.  She also worked on the MV Caribbean Mercy from January 2003 to June 2004, when she came to Denver to do a SOW.  She then completed Phase II in the spring of 2005 and joined staff right after.

Dustyne Gales: Dustyne is from Chicago. In the winter of 2004 he did a boarders DTS at our Eagle Rock Campus followed by a SBF in the summer of 2004. He did his Phase 2 in the Fall of 2006 and then joined staff in the winter of 2007.

Phil and Caren Gazley: Phil is from Essex, England and Caren is from Los Angeles, California. They did their DTS in Alberta, Canada in 1984-1985. They also did a Leadership Training School in Tyler, Texas in 1988. They were Directors of YWAM Calgary and Area Directors in Alberta. Caren was a children's pastor for three years, and they were pastors/church planters in the UK where Phil was also the Volunteer and Donations Coordinator and worked in Church Relations for the Lutheran Family Services. Phil also trains law enforcement on human trafficking. They were married in May of 1989 and have two awesome children, Emma and Alex. They did their Phase II in the spring of 2006 and joined staff directly afterwards. Together, they have led around twelve outreaches. Currently, Phil is our Bridge Team Co-Ordinator, and Caren is our Director of Hospitality & Special Events. They are both passionate about Social Justice Issues, and enjoy black & white movies, live theater, music, and walking.
Ben and Arie Gort: Ben, from Michigan , did his DTS in the winter of 2003 with Mercy Ships in Newcastle , England . He came to Denver for a Phase II in the fall of 2003 and joined our staff in February 2004. Arie, from Texas , did her DTS in the summer of 1999. She did a Phase II in the winter of 2000 and joined staff in the spring of 2003. They were married in the summer of 2004. Their first son, Zion, was born in the spring of 2005. Their second son, Micah, was born February of 2007.

Chris and Lorrie Gray: Chris and Lorrie are from Missouri and were married in the summer of 2004. They did their DTS with us in the summer of 2005. They did a WISE in the winter of 2006 and a Phase 2 in the Fall of 2006. They joined staff in the spring of 2007. They are expecting their first baby at the end of May.


Jacob Green: Jacob comes from California . He did his DTS in the fall of 2002 at Eagle Rock followed by Phase II in the spring of 2003. He joined the Mission Adventures team in the summer of 2003, and came on staff in the fall of 2003.

Hannah Griffis: Hannah is from Kansas. She did her DTS with us in the winter of 2006. Her Phase 2 in the Fall of 2006. She joined staff in the spring of 2007. Hannah has an Associate's Degree in Arts from Butler Community College. Hannah works in the Personnel Department, and is an Administrative Assistant. Hannah has a passion for children, and enjoys hanging out with her friends.

Peter Kingsley: Peter came to us from England and began his YWAM school career with a DTS in the spring of 2001. He followed it with a SOW in the summer of 2001, a WISE school in the winter of 2002, and a Phase II in the spring of 2002. He joined the Mission Adventures team for the summer of 2002 and he joined staff in the fall of 2002.
Jeremy & Keeley Lange: Jeremy is from California and did his DTS in the summer of '99. He returned to Denver in the spring of 2000 to complete a Phase II. He came on staff in the fall of 2000. He married Keeley on February 29, 2004 . Keeley did her DTS in the fall of 2002 and Phase II in the fall of 2003. She joined staff in January of 2004. They have two daughters, Reegan, born in the fall of 2004 and Keeana, born in the fall of 2006.

Anthony Lee: Anthony is from New York. He did his DTS in the winter of 2004, followed by a Phase II in the spring followed by a SBF in the summer. He joined our staff in March of 2005.
Donevon & Beth Loewen: Donevon, from Manitoba , Canada , did his DTS in the fall of 1996. In the winter of 1997 he did a SOI, followed by a Phase II in the fall of 1997. Beth, from Alabama , did her DTS the fall of 1996. She returned in the winter of 1997 for an SOI, and a Phase II in the fall of 1997. They joined our staff in the fall of 1998 and were married in the spring of 1999. They have four children: Jory, August, Taylor, and Halley. Donevon leads worship and is an elder at Hillside Community Church, and Beth is on the Missions Team there as well. Donevon is our Facilities Director, our Festivals Director, and our WISE School Director as well.

Mark & Donna MacGowan: Mark & Donna have been married since 1981. They are currently the directors of YWAM Denver's extension campus - Eagle Rock, where they live when not on assignment elsewhere. Before coming to Denver in 1991, they lived in Fairfax, Virgina. There Mark discipled teens as a youth minister and Donna taught gifted and talented students in the public school system. God has used Mark's Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Religion, and Donna's Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education to prepare them for each step of His plan for them.
Charissa

Derlyn Martin:  Derlyn is from Pennsylvania. He did a boarders DTS in the winter of 2005. He did his Phase 2 in the Fall of 2005. He joined our staff in the Fall of 2006. Deryln has a passion for children, and enjoys snowboarding, travelling, and other cultures. He is currently pursuing missions aviation.


Darren McCarthy: Darren comes to us from the great state of Minnesota. He did his DTS in Costa Rica in the fall of 2002. He came to Denver in the summer of 2004 for an SOW followed by a Phase II in the fall of 2004. He joined staff in December of 2004.

Foster Miller: Foster is from the country of Texas. He did a DTS in the summer of 2005. He did a WISE in the winter of 2006 followed by a Phase 2 in the spring of 2006. He joined staff in the winter of 2007.

Heather Miller : Heather is from Ohio. She did her DTS at our Eagle Rock campus in the fall of 2002. She did a WISE school in the winter of 2003 and her Phase II in the fall of 2003. She joined staff in March of 2005.

John & Bethany Murphy : John is from California and Bethany is from Wyoming. Bethany did her DTS in the winter of 1998 and her Phase II in fall of 1998. John did his DTS in the fall of 1998 and his Phase II fall of 1999. They were married on November 4, 2000. They came on staff in March of 2002. They have a son, Isaac, and two beautiful girls, Jada and Emily. John and Bethany are elders here at YWAM Denver, and they also lead the Boarders DTS, which they helped develope, and also direct DTS's. They have led five outreaches together. They have a passion for discipleship, and for seeing others utilize their passions for the kingdom of God. Bethany enjoys midwifery, and together, the Murphys enjoy extreme sports and the outdoors, especially camping in the mountains and fishing.


Amy Osburn : Amy, from Arizona, did her DTS in the fall of 2003 and Phase II in the spring 2004. She joined us on staff in the summer of 2004.


Jonah Pyhala: Jonah comes to us from New Hampshire. He did a DTS in May of 1997 on the Anastasis and joined their staff. He did a School of Worship in the summer of 2001 and a Phase II here in the spring of 2002. Jonah joined our staff in the summer of 2002. Jonah has worked with six outreaches. Jonah is our Director of Video, working mainly on the Weekly Videocasts. He has a passionate about getting people involved in missions work, and enjoys travelling & exploring different cultures.

Ian and Petra Russell:  Ian is originally from England and Petra originally from Oklahoma.  They met in England where they both did their DTS. Ian did his DTS in 2002-03 and Petra in 2003-04. THey were staff from 2004-05 in England. They were married in 2005. Their daughter, Lyric, was born in March of 2007.  Ian and Petra did their Phase II in the fall of 2006 and joined staff the following winter.

 


Cary Snodgrass: Cary grew up in West Virginia. He attended California University of Pennsylvania, and attained a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Management. Cary did his DTS in the Fall of 1994 here at YWAM Denver, then did his Phase 2 one year later in the fall of 1995. Cary joined our staff during January of 1996, and became an elder here at our base during the year 2004. Cary is one of the administrators here at YWAM Denver. Cary enjoys geneaology, and travelling! Cary has been to seventeen countries, has led seven DTS outreaches and has been on two mobile teams.

Joshua Thiesen: Joshua comes to us from California . He began his YWAM career with a DTS in the summer of 2002. He returned in the winter of 2003 to do a WISE school. His Phase II was in the fall of 2003. Joshua joined us on staff in the spring of 2004.


Ken and Doris Urban: For the twenty years that Doris and Ken have been in YWAM, the key words have to be "adventure" and "relationships!" Ken and Doris have traveled and ministered in over thirty countries, had the opportunity to pioneer a humanitarian aid/church planting work in Kazakhstan, and now have precious relationships with dear friends on every continent except Antarctica. Ken has spent twenty years as a civil engineer in construction, sales and management, thirteen years teaching woodshop, drafting, and the bible, and twenty years with YWAM in training, leading outreaches, and Frontier Missions. Ken and Doris have been married 54 years, and have two kids and four grandkids. They have a real passion for Kazakhstan, Israel, and seeing their children and grandchildren prosper, and they really enjoy going out for a movie and a dinner and spending time with their family. Ken also really enjoys golfing, and Doris is a great seamstress!


Jae Van Winkle - Jae is from California . She did her DTS in Las Vegas in the summer of 2002. She did a Phase II in the spring of 2003 followed by a SBF in the fall of 2003. She joined staff in December of 2003.
Kevin and Simone Verrone: Kevin is from Nebraska and Simone is from Brazil. Kevin has a degree in Exercise Physiology and Simone has one in Clinical Psychology. They met in YWAM Denver during their DTS in the Spring 1998 and got married during their Phase II in the Fall of that same year. Together, they have lead 5 outreaches together and a mission adventures road crew. Kevin has also led ten DTSs and one Phase II. He is currently the director of the Communications department and of the Phase II School and she leads small groups and works with discipling the staff. They are also involved with their local church. They have two children: Kaleb who was born in 2000 and Bella born in 2003.  Kevin and Simone are also expectant waiting parents of an adopted girl who will come from China sometime soon. Kevin loves to play soccer, snowboard, fish and pretty much any outdoor activity. Simone I love the arts, especially music, photography & dance.
Peter and Linda Warren: Peter joined Youth With A Mission in Canberra, Australia in 1977. He and Linda met while both were working at YWAM Los Angeles. They were married in 1979, led Discipleship Training Schools for three years, and directed the ministry during their final year in California. In 1984, Peter and Linda moved to Colorado to pioneer the base in Denver. Peter continues to oversee YWAM Denver on a daily basis, and serves on the ministry's leadership council. He is a regular speaker in YWAM training schools around the world, as well as in local churches, conferences, and seminars. Together, they have led about a dozen outreaches. Peter and Linda live in Denver, Colorado, and have three children: Stephen, Rachel, and Jessica. Peter enjoys golfing, travelling (He hitchhiked around the world when he was 19, and will also visit his 100th country in 2007!), and music. Linda attained a degree in Occupational Therapy from San Diego State University, loves crafts, cooking, and reading, and currently serves on the University of the Nations council, for YWAM International. Together they are very passionate about this generation, the great commission, and helping the poor and needy.
Rachel Warren: Rachel, the daughter of Peter and Linda Warren, did her DTS in Worcester , South Africa in the winter of 200. She did a SOW here in Denver in the summer of 2004 followed by a Phase II in the fall of 2004.
Rix Warren: Rix completed a DTS with his wife, Irma, and their son Peter in 1978 in Australia and an SOE in Hawaii . Rix has served at several YWAM bases including 5 years in Argentina planting an YWAM base. He has been with YWAM Denver since the spring of 1986 and has three children: Peter, Anne, and Jane. Irma, his wife of 49 years, also faithfully served the Lord in YWAM. She went to be with the Lord in December 2002. Rix is currently serving in Argentina.

Matt Watson: Matt is from South Dakota. Matt did a Boarders DTS at our Eagle Rock campus in the winter of 2005. He then did a Phase II in the fall of 2005 and joined staff immediately after in the winter of 2006.
Trish Webster: Trish has been to 51 countries! Trish, from New Zealand , did her DTS on the Anastasis in 1983. Following her DTS she joined staff with YWAM in Hong Kong until 1991, when she joined staff on the Anastasis through 2000. She did her Phase II in the spring of '01 and joined our staff directly afterwards. Trish joined the eldership here at YWAM Denver during the summer of 2006. Trish is the Director of Personnel, managing just over 100 staff here at YWAM Denver! Trish is passionate about people knowing the truth about themselves, and loves to entertain & cook.
Elizabeth Yuschalk: Elizabeth comes to us from Bellingham, Washington.  At YWAM Denver, she did her DTS in June 2001, a Phase II in September of 2001, and a SBF in June of 2003.  Elizabeth joined our staff in March 2002.


Heidi Zeiner: Heidi is from Wisconsin . She did her DTS in the winter of 2003, followed by a Phase II in the fall of 2003. Heidi joined our staff in the spring of 2004.
