Video Impact School (VIS)
Prerequisite
Successful completion of the Discipleship Training School.
Course Description
Learn to craft quality motion pictures of all kinds on little or no budget, in small development teams of 1-4 people. This is a hands-on practical application school designed to equip individuals with the necessary tools to implement "guerilla film" techniques and for creating your own short films.
Curriculum
- Preproduction (Script writing, storytelling, storyboarding, job roles)
- Digital Non-linear Editing and Compositing
(Final Cut, After Effects, Livetype)
- Camera Operation
(Digital video, movement mechanics, shots, filters, ets.)
- Sound for Moving Pictures
(Use of microphones, sound effects, and editing)
- Lighting Techniques
- Directing and Acting skills
- Post-production (creative editing, storytelling in editing, understanding formats, and technical terms in editing, copyright laws, use of music, etc.)
- Marketing and Distribution
- Innovative Designing and "Guerilla" Film Techniques
- Web and Video Coordination

Create a one minute film
- Design and create a 15 minute documentary
- Re-create a short scene from a script without knowing the name of the movie. (demonstrating how different directors will create a different movie from the same script)
- Create a VideoCast for YWAM Denver
- Conduct a formal (sharing a testimony, etc.)
- Demonstrate an understanding of compositing by creating a composite introduction
- Create an on-line video blog
Cost
$3,695.00 USD for the twelve-week lecture phase. This cost includes tuition, food, and housing, and resources. There is an additional cost for books, personal care and laundry money, extra activities and personal snacks. Keep in mind that the tuition for the Video Impact School is not tax-deductible.
OUTREACH: Outreaches are optional for all the secondary school students. Upon completion of the program, students are invited to join either the current DTS outreach or a VIS outreach, if available.
